Our Story
Tom and Allison have been training horses for several years, which is a passion they share. They have developed an incredible program that puts the horse first, and because of this they have been successful in this industry.
Tom grew up in Iowa, where he spent his time farming and training his horses. He has an incredible ability to read the horse, and people soon took notice. He has earned the trust and respect of so many, and the horses in their barn are a direct reflection of that. Tom has competed heavily in NRCHA, SHOT, RSNC, and USTPA events all over the nation and was inducted into the RSNC hall of fame for his achievements.
He has stepped into the reined cow horse community and has been competing in one of the toughest futurities out there, The Snaffle Bit. Tom is extremely gifted with the two-year-old’s. He is patient, knows how to read them, and implement softness with a kind hand. Soft and broke- Toms main goal for the colts as he prepares them mentally and physically, so they can handle their new job with confidence.
Allison was born and raised in Texas and was on a horse before she could walk, so riding is second nature to her. She was born into a family of veterinarians, and this has given her a deep understanding of equine medicine and behavior. For several years she worked in small and large animal clinics holding various positions. Allison is a very talented rider and has competed in the RSNC, RSOA, USTPA, SHOT, ACHA, and NCHA. Photography is another passion of hers, and her talent shines in her work. Her ability to capture the horse and rider through photography and videography is extraordinary, and can be seen on their Facebook and TikTok pages.
Barker Performance Horses also consigns horses, and Allison oversees that. She has developed an excellent program and has sold numerous horses through the years. Recently she has started training barrel horses and has had great success. She says that a broke horse can do just about anything, and the cow horse handle just makes everything that much easier. Tom and Allison are committed to the horses in their barn, as well as their owners. Their goals of showing more in the NRCHA and NCHA are unfolding, and they are making their mark in this industry.
Simone, our handy helper, who works hard taking care of all the horses in the barn. Like her mom, she can ride! She has been given the "kid horse" duty of tuning up and does it well!
If you are ever in Brenham, Texas, come and say hello and take a stroll with us through the barn. Don’t forget to say hello to the cow dog, Ferrah, and if she lets you pick her up consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
